Research interests:
Fisheries Biology, Ecology, Oceanography. Young stages of fish, phytoplankton, zooplankton. Reproduction, growth and feeding of fish. Mediterranean ecosystems. Pelagic food chains. An ecosystem approach to fisheries management.
Research and other relevant experience:
Participation in 50 research and development projects, 25 of them as coordinator, scientific coordinator or work package manager. Author of 87 scientific papers in periodicals with judges, 16 chapters in books and more than 150 other publications (in conference proceedings, special publications, press articles, etc.). He is Editor at the International Scientific Marine Ecology Progress Series, Scientia Marina and Mediterranean Marine Science and has been Guest Editor at the Journal of Natural History and Fisheries Research. He is a reviewer in dozens of international scientific journals and Conference Proceedings, a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee for Fisheries (EU-DG MARE) and coordinator of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Sub-Regional Committee for the Adriatic Sea.
